Boys Empowerment Club to begin in Sept.

The junior youth empowerment program is open to young boys aged between approximately 12 and 15 and assists them to navigate through a crucial stage in their lives. Those in their early adolescent years possess altruism, a sense of justice, eagerness to learn about the universe, and a desire to contribute to the construction of a better world. The program helps youth form a strong moral identity and empowers them to contribute to the well-being of their communities and the world at large. Program runs from Sept – June.

The boys will meet on Sundays at 3:00 pm at NECS. They will be mentored by Jared Foxhall a high school senior and Shayan Sobhian, a college undergraduate senior.

Elements of the program:

  • Increasing Spiritual perception
  • Expanding consciousness
  • Strengthening the power of expression • Reinforcing moral structures
  • Releasing capacity for service
  • Establishing bonds of friendship

How we achieve this:

  1. Service and social action
  2. Exploring literature
  3. Social interactions and communication skills
  4. Creative expression through the arts, sports…

By developing their spiritual qualities (virtues), their intellectual capabilities and their capacities for service to society, the participants come to see that they can become agents of positive change in the world.

The program adopts a participatory mode of learning where the facilitator and participants learn from each other. Groups of participants engage in activities such as artistic expression, discussion, drama, cooperative games, study of literature, story telling and acts of community service.

The junior youth program is part of a worldwide movement initiated by the international Baha’i Community. The group will explores principles such as equality between men & women, oneness of mankind, elimination of all forms of prejudice, leadership but is not a formal religious education program. It is open to all, subject to parental approval. Junior youth groups meet on a regular basis and there is no written homework.

To Register email rf@necspace.com. This program is FREE, however we do ask for a one time suggested donation of $50 for the entire school year.
