Multi Media Art – Drawing, Painting, Clay & Sculpting, Age 8 – 11 @ New Era Creative Space

REGISTRATION CUT-OFF IS MAY 19, 2019.

Multi-media art class for students ages 8 – 11 where participants will get to attempt new ways of creating art. This class includes drawing, painting, clay, and sculpture work as well as incorporating their favorite skills into a final group project. The first three weeks we will explore these art forms and the last three will planning and executing their group project. Each week participants will learn the basics of getting started on an art project and what they can do to become successful at bringing their ideas to life.

Madeline (Maddy) Cairl is a junior in high school and is passionate about art. She is a former camp counselor at Peekskill’s creative arts camp and on top of that, teaches the younger generation of Ridvan’s girls rising group. She often incorporates art into their learning and has decided to take the next step and make a class centered around doing so. She is seeking a career in the arts and would love to have this type of experience.

The SOUL of PHOTOGRAPHY Workshop With Ocean Morisset, 21+ @ New Era Creative Space

Location: Depew Park/Downtown Peekskill

  • Discussion of basic photography principles.
  • Hiking along trails and parks and walking along downtown Peekskill students will photograph the environment
  • We will cover Landscape photography, Still Life, and candid portraiture.

This workshop is open to all amateur and professional photographers using DSLR’s or iphones. If you’re looking to be INSPIRED, LEARN new skills, have FUN with Photography, MEET other people passionate about photography, this workshop is for YOU! o picOcean Morisset an internationally exhibited, self-taught (freelance) photographer specializing in Photojournalism and Documentary photography. Ocean also explores Fine Art photography and engages with a wide range of subjects in life, though his passion remain in telling stories with images. Ocean’s choice of subject matter reveals his humanitarianism, as he has a keen eye for the unnoticed and under-appreciated aspects of life, and presents them in a way that the viewer takes hold of the image for their own self-reflection.

Ocean currently resides in Peekskill, New York.

New Era Creative Space is excited to announce their Summer Theatre Camp August 5-16. Campers ages 9-13 will engage in improv, storytelling, song, and dance, while utilizing their skills to create their very own scenes for a performance at the end of the session.

A dance portion each day will ensure campers are warmed up and using their bodies to express their own musical ideas. Routines will be based on contemporary pop and Broadway music. All students will be able to create their own characters and scenes during improvisations, which will continue to be developed during the weeks into full-fledged scenes. Using Broadway classics and contemporary favorites, students will work on singing as a group while having the opportunity to solo if they wish.

All levels of experience welcome!

  Natalie won the 2016 Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets Award for Best Female Debut for her original show “Mama Drama.” As an actress she has appeared in New York with Playhouse Creatures, MCC, and the New York Musical Festival. She graduated from the Guildford School of Acting in England. While overseas she worked with Britt Eklund and Sylvester McCoy (of “James Bond” and “Dr. Who” fame, respectively), toured England and Germany in “The Importance of Being Earnest”, and was cast by Trevor Nunn in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Woman in White.” She is regularly seen on The Depot Stage and at 54 Below in concerts such as “Sondheim Unplugged” and “Simply Streisand.” She has worked in theater education for nearly 20 years and loves sharing her passion for musical theater with her students. She lives in Putnam Valley with her husband and three children.
