My Brother's Keeper Leadership and Empowerment for Young Men, Age 11 - 14 & 15 - 17 @ New Era Creative Space

This program will help youth/mentors/animators develop a strong moral identity and empower them to contribute to their own well-being, the wellbeing of their communities and the world at large. To train them to become mentor/mediators for younger student in the district.

High school participants who participate in this moral/ethical/spiritual transformation will be provided with the opportunity to define who they are, regardless of society’s definition. They will see their true nobility. To do this, they will explore a variety of coming of age questions (Who am I? What’s my purpose?  How can I become an agent of change? What’s stopping me?) and deeply resolve these issues through engagement in Social Action and Mentorship.

Program Objectives:

  • Build self-awareness. Exploring personal and society’s narrative.
  • Examine coping skills, current attitude and growth mindset.
  • Learn conflict resolution skills and ways to cope with stressors.
  • Increase openness, explore valuable human qualities that are innate and lead to success.
  • Build self confidence and learn communication skills
  • Explore values, virtues and qualities that make us be our best selves.
  • Living intentionally, self expression and community engagement.
  • Learning new skills and ways to express oneself creatively, and with integrity.

  1. Middle school students meet Wednesdays once a month at the Peekskill Middle School from 3:00 – 4:30 PM
  2. High School students meet Sundays from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and other dates as specified by group.

New Era Creative Space is excited to announce their Summer Theatre Camp August 5-16. Campers ages 9-13 will engage in improv, storytelling, song, and dance, while utilizing their skills to create their very own scenes for a performance at the end of the session.

A dance portion each day will ensure campers are warmed up and using their bodies to express their own musical ideas. Routines will be based on contemporary pop and Broadway music. All students will be able to create their own characters and scenes during improvisations, which will continue to be developed during the weeks into full-fledged scenes. Using Broadway classics and contemporary favorites, students will work on singing as a group while having the opportunity to solo if they wish.

All levels of experience welcome!

Natalie won the 2016 Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets Award for Best Female Debut for her original show “Mama Drama.” As an actress she has appeared in New York with Playhouse Creatures, MCC, and the New York Musical Festival. She graduated from the Guildford School of Acting in England. While overseas she worked with Britt Eklund and Sylvester McCoy (of “James Bond” and “Dr. Who” fame, respectively), toured England and Germany in “The Importance of Being Earnest”, and was cast by Trevor Nunn in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Woman in White.” She is regularly seen on The Depot Stage and at 54 Below in concerts such as “Sondheim Unplugged” and “Simply Streisand.” She has worked in theater education for nearly 20 years and loves sharing her passion for musical theater with her students. She lives in Putnam Valley with her husband and three children.
