Students will develop and design animated shorts with Adobe Photoshop. They will start by learning digital painting skills and the use of a drawing tablet and stylus to paint backgrounds and character designs.They will practice digital animation techniques and principles such as storyboarding, timing, motion, squash and stretch, staging and onion skinning.Students will engage in all aspects of production from initial sketches on paper to developing and exporting the final output to create their own original 2D animated stories.
With Aaron Porter – Westchester Community College
Aaron Porter is a graphic artist and illustrator.
Originally from Chicago, Aaron graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Scientific Illustration. He also has an MFA in painting from the University of Miami.Aaron worked many years as a staff artist at several mid to large newspapers including the Journal News in White Plains.
He also worked as an assistant English teacher in Japan for 3 years teaching junior high school students. He currently works as a freelance graphic artist where he creates illustrations, infographics, animated explainer videos, photo composites and retouching. Since 2010 he has taught digital illustration, digital imaging, 2D animation, photography and digital painting at Bronx Community College and Westchester Community College. He has taught adults, teen and children.
