Program Objective: To provide participants with engaging and comprehensive, project-based programming. Using STEAM principles, we will creatively investigate and explore subject matter directly related to current events and relevant topics. We will provide age appropriate curriculum focusing on the five STEAM principles, covering Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Student participants will have an opportunity to have creative hands-on learning experience.
This Summer STEAM program will immerse the participants in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art Integration and Math, as well as awaken self-confidence and self-awareness through group and individual activities. During each day of this five day program, students will work through engaging project-based activities and lessons. Videos, visuals and handouts will engage the group in subject matter, followed by group discussion. The incorporated activities will directly correlate with the daily focus, highlighted with superstars in each area of study, sharing some of their biographical information and effect on the world around them, both locally and world-wide. Review and assessment is built into a daily worksheet.
The week long STEAM focus:
1. Science: Swimming in Galaxies – Astronomy
2. Technology: Soaking Up Technology – Pop Culture Invention
3. Engineering: Look Up in the Sky – Parachutes, Flying Machines, Missiles
4. Art: Lining UP -Geoetric Contemporary Art
