The purpose of Camp Virtues is to lovingly encourage the development of spiritual qualities (love, compassion, empathy, kindness) in children of all faiths and backgrounds, and to help them build a strong moral foundation that will be the basis for a life well-lived.
The virtues we will focus on during the week will be:
Day 1: Unity
Day 2: Truthfulness
Day 3: Courage
Day 4: Compassion
Day 5: Review and Prep for Parent Presentation.
Campers ages 7-12 learn about the virtues through story-telling, discussion, music, cooperative games, and arts and crafts. Each lesson is accompanied by a quotation that highlights that virtue.
Every morning starts with songs and quotes (from different faiths) and the camp ends with a reflection on what they have learned about the virtue of the day. At the end of each day, each camper is also acknowledged for a virtue that he or she has shown that day and is awarded with an angel virtue acknowledgment that goes home with them.
