Marla began her career in entertainment producing documentaries at HBO. Eager to
combine her production experience with her passion for comedy, she was brought on to
help open and eventually run the NYC office of comedy production and management
firm, Principato-Young Entertainment , now Artists First.
Ratner left Principato-Young to focus solely on producing, creating and showrunning
projects for both network and cable outlets including NBC, TBS, Comedy Central, A&E,
MTV, IFC and others, with some of the most respected names in comedy today.
Marla’s cause work includes working as the Content Producer for non-profit GOTV
organization The Hometown Project , and developing and co-producing an educational
program with the non-profit Women’s Expressive Theater called the Risk Takers Series .
This program was designed to bolster teenage girls’ self esteem by teaching them
invaluable media literacy and leadership skills. The program served hundreds of New
York City teenage girls from over 80 high schools in all five boroughs.
