MPA Community Consultant Patricia D. White, retired in August 2020 after 30 years as an administrator for Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health in the Children’s Division. Pat is a critical member of Westchester’s nationally recognized System of Care movement. This includes influencing policy, practice and service delivery for children and families with complex needs.
Pat returned to the Community Mental Health Department to serve as the Convener of the Westchester County Faith Based Mental Health Initiative. This initiative is designed to equip clergy staff, faith leaders and Mental Health clinicians with the resources and guidance to foster hope and healing in their community. The initiative increases mental health, awareness, and support throughout the faith community. The interfaith leaders come from various denominations, ministerial leaders, mental health providers, and community members. As the convener, Pat coordinates meetings quarterly with Faith Leaders and community partners on “Building a Soul Safe Community” in Westchester County and across the state of New York.
Currently, Pat is a member of several professional and community organizations, including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, NAMI Westchester, the African American Advisory Board for the Historic Hudson Valley, Sister to Sister International, Inc. (STSI), 100Cameras, Student Advocacy, NAACP ACT SO and the Westchester Black Women Political Caucus. She has been awarded numerous honors and recognized by New York State with the What’s Great in Our State by the Office of Mental Health. Pat is a professional mentor and “coach” to many Social Workers and graduate students in the field of Human Services.
Pat is known as the Jazz Enthusiast and a member of Reese’s’ Roundtable Book Club. Pat received a Masters in Public Administration from Marist College. She is married to Hopeton White and has two adult children Asha and Malik and a 6-year-old granddaughter London.
