Winter Comics Workshop
In this drawing and storytelling class, students will learn and fine-tune their understanding of the basics of making comics. We’ll hone our storytelling skills with a series of short projects, including comic strips, character designs, and folded zines.
Abigail Gallagher, a writer, and Valerie Light, an artist, will co-teach this once-a-week class, alternating days of in-person and video chat teaching. We’ll experiment with the steps of drafting, penciling, inking, and coloring a comic.
Students who can demonstrate a working knowledge of the skills covered in Valerie’s Digital Art Foundations class may use one of NECS iPads to work on some of the projects in this class. (up to 6 iPad users).
Students who wish to enroll in the Spring Comics Art & Writing Workshop starting in March 2025 should plan to commit to twice-weekly 4:00-5:30 classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
