Girl Rising Leadership & Empowerment Program Resumes

For the 6th year, NECS launches our youth leadership and empowerment program open to young girls aged between approximately 12 – 14 with the goal of assisting them to navigate through a crucial stage in their lives. Those in their early adolescent years possess altruism, a sense of justice, eagerness to learn about the universe, and a desire to contribute to the construction of a better world.

The program helps youth form a strong moral identity and empowers them to contribute to the well-being of their communities and the world at large. Program runs from Sept – June and the group will meet onSaturdays from 3 – 5 pm. Email info@necspace.com with inquiries about how to join the club.

Elements of the program:

  • Increasing Spiritual perception
  • Expanding consciousness
  • Strengthening the power of expression
  • Reinforcing moral structures
  • Releasing capacity for service
  • Establishing bonds of friendship

How we achieve this:

  1. Service and social action
  2. Exploring literature
  3. Social interactions, field trips and events
  4. Creative expression through the arts

By developing their spiritual qualities (love, compassion, empathy…), their intellectual capabilities and their capacities for service to society, the participants come to see that they can become agents of positive change in the world.

The program adopts a participatory mode of learning where the facilitator and participants learn from each other. Groups of participants engage in activities such as artistic expression, discussion, drama, cooperative games, study of literature, story telling and acts of community service.

The junior youth program is part of a worldwide movement initiated by the international Baha’i Community. The group will explores principles such as equality be- tween men & women, oneness of mankind, elimination of all forms of prejudice, leadership but is not a formal religious education program. It is open to all, subject to parental approval. Junior youth groups meet on a regular basis and there is no writ- ten homework.

There is a suggested annual donation towards supplies etc. However if your family cannot afford it, please consider volunteering your time to volunteer at NECS.  Email info@necspace.org with inquiries.
