Empower ED: Girls Club – High School
This youth-led program, with a focus on healthy self-esteem, provides a safe space for high-school-aged girls to come together to learn about issues of concern to girls through social interaction, topic discussions, field trips, exploring inspiring literature, and creative expression through the arts. Participants will meet with professionals to learn about different professions and the qualities, mindset, and life skills required to succeed.
Our youth leadership and empowerment programs aim to help young people navigate a crucial life stage. Those in their early adolescent years possess altruism, a sense of justice, an eagerness to learn about the universe, and a desire to contribute to constructing a better world.
This program helps girls form a strong moral identity and empowers them to contribute to their well-being, communities, and the world. Youth facilitators, EmpowerED Girls alumnae, receive training and mentorship from NECS staff.
At the end of the school year, students who have participated in the girl’s empowerment program for at least two years and have shown a commitment to the program and their teammates will be invited to join an international service-learning cultural immersion trip in the summer of 2025.
