Comics Art & Writing Workshop (Spring 2025!)
In this art & writing class, students will build their knowledge of the elements of visual storytelling with a series of longer projects, including comic pages, character turnarounds, and storyboarding plot arcs.
Illustrator Valerie Light teaches this twice-a-week class, alternating days of instruction time and studio work time. We’ll experiment with the steps of drafting, penciling, inking, and coloring a comic. Guest instructors will join us every other week to share their experiences of publishing, designing, and printing comics.
Students who can demonstrate a working knowledge of the skills covered in Valerie’s Digital Art Foundations class may use one of NECS’s iPads to work on some of the projects in this class. (up to 6 iPad users).
