This youth-led program, focusing on healthy self-esteem and moral leadership, provides a safe space for young girls to learn about issues of concern to girls, explore inspiring literature, and creative expression through the arts.
Love to Sing? Find your voice with a fun, vibrant group that performs everything from pop to R&B to musical theater. This isn’t your average choir! The NECS Glee Club invites teens and young adults to explore the joy of performing, vocal training, and being part of a musical team.
A 9-month paid course for youth (ages 14-18) that combines professional mentorship, hands-on training, and a creative community to develop artistic skills, produce original films, and explore career pathways.
In this drawing and storytelling class, students will hone their storytelling skills with a series of short projects, including comic strips, character designs, and folded zines.
In Digital Art Portfolio Building, students who are already experienced with Procreate will work on projects aimed at increasing the range and style of projects in their art portfolios.
In Digital Art Foundations, we will borrow inspiration from the art style and the career of a new Mentor Artist each week, from poets and painters to animators and illustrators.
A weekly poetry program designed to inspire creativity and self-expression through the art of verse. Participants will be invited to participate in a Spoken Word Poetry Slam to share and share their work.
A 9-month paid workforce development program that teaches film and media arts to empower youth voices, build workforce development skills, provide paid work experience.
In this class you will experience a creative, dynamic, and grounding yoga practice that uses the breath to connect to movement. Join us every 4th Tuesday of the Month in this free workshop.
NECS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates with limited resources, relying on support from the community to sustain our programming. Because we know there are families in need, we offer a sliding scale for program fees. While we don’t require supporting documents to demonstrate financial hardship, we do ask that families pay as much as they can afford. This is what enables us to offer our programs to families in more difficult financial situations.
NECS’ program fees help to cover the expenses of running the program and allow us to provide scholarships and sliding scale fees. We will not be able to offer honor-based sliding scale discounts to those in need if those who can afford the fee choose to pay a discounted amount. When registering for a program, please select the highest fee your family can afford.
